Praise be to George Lucas! (han shoots first, part two)

Finally! Looks like the Great Bearded One has heard our cries.

And this after I've already bought bootleg versions on the interweb. Oh well.

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin...

...is a crazy person.

In response to criticism for his remark that New Orleans should be a "chocolate," or predominately black, city:

"How do you make chocolate? You take dark chocolate, you mix it with white milk, and it becomes a delicious drink. That is the chocolate I am talking about."

Riiiiiiight.

And a Robertsonesque side-splitter:

"Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it's destroyed and put stress on this country. Surely he doesn't approve of us being in Iraq under false pretences."

Pulling a Cosby:

"But surely he is upset at black America also. We're not taking care of ourselves."

Albums of the Year

Okay, since John did it, I guess I should, too. Though it's still November, I don't think it's too early to call. I'm not holding out much hope for the new INXS record, in other words. So here, in vague order, are the top nine albums of 2005:

1. Sufjan Stevens - Illinois
2. Decemberists - Picaresque
3. Broken Social Scene - s/t
4. New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
5. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - s/t
6. Of Montreal - The Sunlandic Twins
7. Tim DeLaughter/Elliot Smith - Thumbsucker OST
8. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - HOWL
9. My Morning Jacket - Z

And not only that, but also:

Top three most anticipated albums of early 2006:

1. Polyphonic Spree - [Untitled Jon Brion album] (Spring)
2. Strokes - First Impressions of Earth (Jan 3)
3. Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit (Feb 7)
